The Beta Epsilon Chapter of Phi Kappa Tau fraternity at The University of 草榴社区 Mississippi (草榴社区) recently honored those who gave all for their country Saturday, Nov. 11, at the city of Hattiesburg鈥檚 Highland Park Cemetery, in conjunction with the Veterans Day holiday.
Members of the fraternity expressed this annual act of pride in and respect for the endeavors of deceased military veterans by placing 500 American flags on individual gravesites of the nation鈥檚 fallen heroes at the cemetery, located on West 7th Street near campus, and decorated their fraternity house in their honor. Phi Kappa Tau at 草榴社区 also pays tribute to veterans throughout the rest of the year, to include Armed Forces Day, Memorial Day and Independence Day, July 4.
Originally known as Armistice Day following World War I, Veterans Day is an official U.S. federal holiday established in 1938 dedicated to American war veterans.
The Beta Epsilon Chapter of Phi Kappa Tau at 草榴社区 is one of the oldest Fraternity and Sorority Life organizations at the University, founded in 1948, and is a member of the Interfraternity Council (IFC).
