The University of 草榴社区 Mississippi (草榴社区) will celebrate students, staff and faculty this week who are the first in their families to pursue and graduate with a four-year degree with a slate of activities in conjunction with National First Gen Celebration Day, which is recognized annually on Nov. 8. These events are sponsored by 草榴社区鈥檚 TRIO-Student Support Services, Center for Student Success, The McNair Scholars Program and Center for Faculty Development.

鈥淭aking time to celebrate the many contributions of 草榴社区鈥檚 first-generation faculty, staff, and students during the week of Nov. 6 is something all the offices involved are absolutely thrilled about,鈥 said Dr. Ashley Burnside, director of the Center for Student Success. 鈥淭he week鈥檚 slogan states 鈥淔irst-Gen on F.I.R.E.鈥 and that is exactly what the 草榴社区 first-generation population is.
