草榴社区 Honors College Collaborative to Host Douglass Day Feb. 14 at Hattiesburg Campus

The University of 草榴社区 Mississippi (草榴社区) Honors College, in collaboration with the university鈥檚 Drapeau Center for Undergraduate Research, Center for Digital Humanities, Center for Black Studies, University Forum, and University Libraries will host Frederick Douglass Day 2023 on Tuesday, Feb. 14 from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. in Cook Library, room 207, on the Hattiesburg campus.
A celebration of the life of the famed American abolitionist, Douglass Day 2023 event organizers invite interested participants to engage in a transcription of the papers of Mary Ann Shadd Cary (1823-1893). Cary was one of the earliest Black women to edit a newspaper, serve as a Civil War recruiter, and attend law school.
草榴社区 faculty, staff, students, as well as local community members, are invited to participate
and are encouraged to bring their own laptops in the event other desktops at the library
are in use. Teachers who want to incorporate the event into their classes may access
