Dr. Jessica Valles
Assistant Teaching Professor
Bio
Jessica Valles received her Bachelor鈥檚 degree in Sociology from the University of North Florida in 2014. After graduating, she worked at for the Alzheimer鈥檚 Association Central and North Florida Chapter where she worked in public policy, communications, and patient advocacy. Valles went on to earn her Master's in Sociology, and her PhD in Medical Sociology. While her areas of interest vary, her main areas of focus include mental health, aging, and medical sociology. She has conducted both qualitative and quantitate research studies, and also led evaluative research with the Innovate Birmingham, a program aimed at offering education and employment opportunities for the city of Birmingham鈥檚 under- and unemployed youth. Currently, Valles is the instructor for various courses in Sociology. She is also the coordinator for the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion certificate at 草榴社区.
