Bio
Ery Shin specializes in twentieth- and twenty-first-century literature, with leading interests in modernism, gender and sexuality studies, and continental philosophy. Her first book, Gertrude Stein鈥檚 Surrealist Years (University of Alabama Press, 2020), traces Stein鈥檚 later experimental gestures and their philosophical implications within Hitler鈥檚 Europe. Her current monograph project interrogates the political grounds upon which death wishes are banned. It is a sister work to her debut novel, Spring on the Peninsula, which was released by Astra House in April 2024.
