Dr. Nuno Oliveira

Bio
Dr. Oliveira has been an assistant professor in the School of Kinesiology and Nutrition since 2018. He received his Ph.D. in biomechanics/motor control from the University of Edinburgh in Scotland (UK) in 2014, followed by a postdoctoral fellowship in rehabilitation sciences at Kessler Foundation, NJ. His primary emphasis is on exploring and developing new strategies to optimize movement, function, and health. One of Dr. Oliveira's research areas is osteoarthritis, specifically the development of biofeedback-based exercise interventions for maximizing function and health benefits in this population. This work has been supported by the National Institutes of Health and the American Heart Association. An additional area of research focuses on the development of virtual reality and eye-tracking based tools for balance and functional assessments.
