Dr. Ann Marie Kinnell

Bio
Dr. Ann Marie Kinnell, associate professor of Sociology, is the Director of the School of Interdisciplinary Studies and Professional Development-HBG (2018-) and the director of the Nonprofit Studies program (2007-). She has a Ph.D. in Sociology from Indiana University-Bloomington (1997) with concentrations in conversation analysis, semiotics, and linguistics. Her dissertation focused on counseling practices at a non-profit HIV testing organization. Her current research focuses on the impact of service learning and other civic engagement programs on students and communities, and competition between nonprofit and for-profit organizations. Dr. Kinnell is the past chair of the Department of Anthropology and Sociology (2014-2018) and the Department of Interdisciplinary Studies (2017-2018).
